What I quickly learned when I submit my blog to blog directories was that I was able to garner backlinks in a fairly short time. The result was that my websites became more "attractive" to search engines, which indexed them more readily and in turn caused them to achieve a higher ranking in search engine results pages. The interesting thing is how much importance search engines place on these links. All things being equal, search engines place a higher value on pages that have more links, since this is a sign of a worthy blog. This is actually how I got better results when I submit my blog to blog directories.
