Construction of log houses will have to address various issues with regard to engineering, use of materials, execution of the design and maintenance, among others. Addressing these factors adequately will help ensure the stability and reliability of your log houses for a long time. Just like any other type of structure, log houses will require some type of periodic maintenance in order to better withstand the forces of nature that they are constantly subjected to. And since they are made out of wood after all, they are prone to termite and wood mite attacks just as all other wooden homes are. That being said, log houses are no more at risk for insect damage than other homes made out of wood.
