Most gas fire pits would need to have a provision to connect to the natural gas pipelines in place within the household. Certain gas fire pit designs may utilize propane as the fuel source, in which case these can be made more portable by linking them to a fuel tank that can be integrated to the main fire pit unit. As far as functionality is concerned, a gas fire pit works very much like the typical indoor fireplaces, especially if it is fuelled using gas pipelines.
